In November 2002 Swift Enterprises Ltd was formed by Brian Swift in response to a gap in the marketplace for an alternative quality, customer focused, supplier to the commercial workplace, educational, early childhood, hospital and rest home fields.

Growth and response to the new business was quite profound and we became firmly established not just in our Dunedin base but nationally we became recognized by some major groups.

With our ability to source alternative products and better pricing for quality, made Swift´s a very effective and competitive operation and a serious alternative to all other commercial and professional end users.

CoffeeTime NZ Ltd established by the McEwan family 16 years prior, grew into a significant national brand at a time when the coffee supply business was in its infancy, and achieved a very strong presence particularly in the area of private branding which still remains strong today.

The opportunity arose to merge these two businesses in 2005 with the retirement of the then owners; this merger gave strength to what is now a strong National Brand based in Dunedin.

Being the only privately owned NZ company outside the multinationals in the position to offer such a comprehensive range of products both cost effectively and efficiently. The company has been further enhanced with the addition of Canterbury Refreshments Ltd to the stable, enhancing the strength, and product availability. With the purchase of Canterbury Refreshments, the group gained access to a fresh coffee roasting business which has added to the attractiveness of Swift´s as a supplier over a much broader range, with extremely cost effective fresh ground and bean products, plus MAF approved chemical products under the Canterbury Refreshments label.

With the marriage of these 3 companies now trading under the Swift name and CoffeeTime brand, has created great synergies and strengthened the position of Swift's&acutes in the marketplace not only as a trading entity but in our ability to negotiate better pricing. There is no better evidence of this than in our ability to have held coffee pricing in our private label high quality products at comparatively cheaper pricing against the rapid increases we have seen and are still seeing. This is testament to our operating principles of better pricing on the best quality "we do not compromise quality at any stage"
